Medium Mesh Gear Tote - Woodland

Duck Camp

New Gear Review

For both hunters and anglers alike, the accumulation of gear is fantastically aweing. Do we need it, maybe not. Can we justify it, absolutely. And man oh man do I love gear. I have been a hunter and angler most of my life, and my favorite thing about these sports is all the cool gear. When I was in college I worked at an outdoor/camping store and a fish & tackle store. Those formative years of trade shows and shop discounts have left me corrupted with a crux for gear. With all this great gear comes the predicament of storage and transportation. Where do I put my gear? This is a question every hunter or angler has asked before they hop in a buddies truck or jump into a skiff. We all love gear, but how do we get it from home into the field? I could take my wife's beach bag, but do I want to run the risk of a few damp flies, wet clothes, muddy boots or shotgun shells tagging along to our next family outing. And beyond the family beach bag, what about something rugged and bad-ass for the dudes?

Thankfully Duck Camp has come up with a solution to this predicament with their Mesh Tote Bags! These totes can help get your gear from the house to the field, and look damn good while you do it! But how can a tote bag be an essential piece of gear? Well if you are familiar with Duck Camp, then you know all their products are great quality and every detail was planned with the angler or hunter in mind. The Texas based outdoor company covers the bases for hunting, fishing and hanging around camp, whatever that looks like for you. Their motto is “we make premium outdoor goods so you can ‘Outdoor Good.’”

I purchased the Medium Mesh Tote this past February after seeing them displayed at Southeastern Wildlife Expo (SEWE) in Charleson, SC. I selected the Woodland pattern, simply because I love Duck Camp’s camo designs. Upon my first interaction, the tote bag surprised me due to its lightweight but very durable composition. This tote truly can carry it all. Fly boxes, waders, boots, shotgun shells, a lunch box, a jacket and even a few beers. The mesh on the tote is heavy-duty and water-resistant.  The handles are padded for comfort when carrying gear, and there are several zippered stash pockets, both on the interior and exterior. I am amazed at how sturdy it is, even when filled to the brim.

I have used it several times this spring while turkey hunting. I can throw my calls, headlight, shotgun shells, gloves, facemask etc. into the tote and be on my way to the field. So much of my turkey gear is small and I have a tendency to misplace it. Now, I know everything is in the tote when I head out early in the morning. I plan to bring the tote along this summer while fishing my local rivers, as well as the occasional trip out to the marsh. In the fall and winter I plan on using the tote to carry my bird hunting gear, for both myself and my dog.
